HENRY LION OLDIE means DMITRY GROMOV and OLEG LADYZHENSKY

Dmitry Gromov and Oleg Ladyzhensky write under the joint penname: HENRY LION OLDIE.

Both co-authors are living in Ukraine.

About 2.000.000 copies of H. L. Oldie’s books have been sold up to now.

At “EuroCon-2006” International European SF & Fantasy Convention H. L. Oldie got a title of The Best European SF & Fantasy Writer of 2006, which was voted on by representatives of 22 European countries!

From 1991 to nowadays H. L. Oldie had published more than 270 books, including reprints and translations, or more than 60 original books (first prints); and some anthologies. About 40 novels, 15 novelettes and more than 70 short stories were published up until now.

The “H. L. Oldie” pen name was invented as a merger of writer’s names, Oleg and Dmitry, respectively, and the initials are derived from their family names in Cyrillic (Громов and Ладыженский). They eventually decided that H. L. should stay for “Henry Lion”. The choice of a western-sounding pseudonym was common during the early post-Soviet era, when post-Soviet publishers and readers preferred science fiction and fantasy writing by foreign writers.
